It was reported earlier that Angry Birds for Google Android was delayed, but in a turn of events, Rovio Mobile, the developers of this highly popular game have advised that they anticipate launching an Android version of this game by the end of the week.

If you remember, Angry Birds was available in a beta form and with over one million downloads, it is safe to say that there is demand for the game. There’s no doubt that the full version will simply follow in the footsteps of the beta version in its success.

In regards to the Android game, Rovio Mobile has not confirmed a final price on the game, but have said that it will be “attractively priced”. The initial release will not include support for QVGA display screens, but future updates will.

New LG 72LEX9 TV

New LG 72LEX9 TV

LG-LCD-TV

When size matters, LG is stepping up to the plate by announcing their new LG 72LEX9 TV. Measuring in at 72-inches, it’s the largest commercially available 3D LCD TV.

Certainly, this would give a whole new meaning to watching a sporting event like Monday Night Football on the big screen. However, before you get your hopes up to high, little is known about this big screen television. There’s no price that has been mentioned thus far and it’s not even known if it will be available in the US, but somehow I can’t see it not making its way this way.

This LG TV comes with a full LED Backlight, Web TV components, DLNA support and a 480HZ True-Motion panel.

Pioneer HDJ-1000 Headphones

Pioneer HDJ 1000 Headphones

HDJ-1000-G_angle_high_highres

With any pair of headphones, there’s only so much technical refinement that can be done and once you’ve perfected the design, there’s little else you can do to upgrade the product without a major overhaul.

Pioneer appears to have have come close to this position with their HDJ-1000 headphones which today are being released as a limited edition series. The new release features an overall black look with the obvious extroverted gold addition. There’s also been some subtle changes to the innards to offer the headphones a better fit as well as improve the low-range reproduction.

Both of these changes probably don’t justify the $209 price tag but you can’t deny the appealing looks of the HDJ-1000.

Sony has confirmed that they will role out an update for their Playstation 3

netflix_ps31

Monday, October 18th is the date that Sony has confirmed that they will role out an update for their Playstation 3. The new update is for Netflix and will allow console users to stream digital content, both TV and movies, without the requirement of a Netflix disc.

In addition to this upcoming change, the Monday update will also deliver a revised user interface as well as make some media content in higher resolution. The reason for the improved resolution stems from the fact that some content will be available in 1080i high definition with Dolby 5.1 channel surround sound. Also included will be subtitles for select content.

With the new UI, users will be able to perform content searches from the PS3 instead of having to rely on Instant Queue which has been enabled on a PC so that it can be subsequently utilized on the console itself. According to Sony, this search mode will improve the user experience as well as bring faster digital streaming.

The update begins on Monday, October 18th and a valid Netflix subscription will be required in order to gain access to it.

Verizon Wireless has confirmed that this Thursday

Verizon Wireless has confirmed that this Thursday

verizonipad

In a press release issued earlier today, Verizon Wireless has confirmed that this Thursday, October 28th, they will begin selling the Apple iPad at retail locations. This move marks the beginning of the development of a new partnership between Verizon and Apple, which Verizon customers can only hope will ultimately lead to the release of the much rumored CDMA iPhone 4.

The Verizon iPad will not function on the Verizon 3G network, but is being sold with a MiFi mobile hotspot modem. The iPad has been a highly profitable gadget for Apple and although it did sell out during its launch period, the economic recession has forced Apple to try and get their tablet computer into as many different retail outlets as possible and with the holiday season upon us, there is no better time then now. It’s because of this reason that we’ve heard that both Walmart and Target will also be selling the iPad.

Depending upon the iPad model selected, Verizon customers can expect to pay $629.99 for the low end 16GB model, $729.99 for the mid range 32GB model and $829.99 for the high end 64GB model. These prices include the modem. In all, Verizon will have the iPad on sale at more then 2,000 retail locations and if customers prefer to buy the iOS tablet without the modem, they will be accomodated.

New version of Skype in the pipeline and now it’s official

facebook-phonebook-in-skype

There were rumors about a new version of Skype in the pipeline and now it’s official. Skype 5.0 for Windows is available as of now and along with it comes some rather tight integration with one of the top social networking sites, namely Facebook.

With Skype 5.0, the biggest feature is Facebook integration as there is now the ability to review your Facebook feed directly through the Skype for Windows software. Although this may not sound overly exciting, there is also the option to make outgoing calls and send text messages to your personal contacts that are listed within your Facebook phonebook. Additionally, if you’re Facebook friends are using the same voice over IP service, you can also connect with them over a free Skype to Skype call.

An interesting feature that Skype 5.0 brings is ten way video calling. The service is open beta and will let you make a group call. Just make sure you have a high bandwidth network connection in order to sustain the connection.

You can download Skype 5.0 from the Skype website. Do let us know your thoughts on the new version.

Samsung Captivate would be available through the Rogers network

It’s official. Many have been waiting for formal confirmation that the Samsung Captivate would be available through the Rogers network and now we have it. According to a posting on the Rogers blog, the Android phone will go on sale “next week”.

Initially, it was expected that the Captivate would be available this week, but due to unforeseen manufacturing problems, the official launch was delayed by about a week. Now, in terms of price, you can expect to buy this phone for $149.99 with a 3-year service contract or $549.99 contract free. The handset will come with Android OS 2.1 but a firmware update to Froyo is expected in “early 2011″. If you can’t wait to get Froyo, there is also a firmware update that has been leaked onto the net but of course, there’s the old story about the void warranty and lack of support if you run into problems after installing it.

iPhone 4 were susceptible to breakage

iPhone 4 were susceptible to breakage

IPhone_41

Guess what, Apple has another issue on their hands. A few days back, we mentioned that the glass screens on the iPhone 4 were susceptible to breakage and now we have some numbers behind this statement.

According to SquareTrade, a hardware warranty company, the display screens of the new iPhone are not nearly as strong as those on the iPhone 3GS. Over a 4 month time frame, the SquareTrade has processed 20,000 iPhone 4 warranty claims. Compared to the iPhone 3GS, this represents an 82% increase is damaged screen claims and in addition to this stat, the overall accident rate on the iPhone 4 is up 68% when compared to its predecessor.

SquareTrade does have one final stat for you if you are still in the market to buy an iPhone 4. The company believes that you have a 15.5% chance of damaging your smartphone in the first year after you buy it. The iPhone 4 has larger glass surface which is great for viewing information, but this display has also made it much harder to maintain that shiny new gadget look and Gorilla glass has offered no benefit in protecting the new device.

Rumors of a CDMA iPhone will not die

Rumors of a CDMA iPhone will not die

iphone4-verizon-dude-230

The rumors of a CDMA iPhone will not die. The most recent news in regards to this subject come by way of the Wall Street Journal who is reporting that Apple has had ongoing discussions over the last four months with Tata Teleservices and Reliance Communications.

The goal of this discussion is to hammer out an agreement that would see a CDMA version of the Apple iPhone made available in India. This is the same model iPhone that Verizon is expected to carry next year within the US.

Along with this information, it has been learnt that the exclusive iPhone arrangements that existed within the European countries of Germany and The Netherlands is coming to an end. Within Germany, O2 and Vodafone will carry the Apple smartphone prior to the holidays, thereby taking the exclusivity away from Deutsche Telekom. Similarly, in Holland, T-Mobile now has some company in selling the iPhone as both KPN and Vodafone have confirmed that they will be offering the smartphone to their respective customer bases. Unlike Germany, we have no timelines as to when the additional mobile carriers in The Netherlands will have the iPhone, but before the holidays is as good a guess as any.
